SEO & Local Search Performance Report

North Shore House:

From Scattered Visibility to #1 in Sussex County

Reporting PeriodMarch 2024 to June 2026 MarketNewton, NJ and Sussex County northshorehouse.com

Executive Summary

Since our work began in March 2024, North Shore House has moved from scattered visibility to owning the top of search for its core market. The venue now ranks first on both Google and the Map pack for the wedding and lakeside event searches couples use most around Newton, and it has swept the Sussex County wedding venue searches from page two all the way to first place.

Just as important, the website is doing its job. It has produced a steady flow of inquiries every month across the engagement, and the share of those leads that go on to book and attend a venue tour has grown. The venue is also being surfaced inside Google AI Mode and ChatGPT for lakeside and exclusive wedding searches, which is where a growing share of couples now begin their planning.

Every figure in this report is pulled directly from Semrush, the venue's lead records, and the live ranking data we track each month. The sections below break down each area.

Organic Traffic Growth

Organic traffic is the unpaid visits the website earns from search engines. When we started in March 2024, the site was drawing an estimated 1,662 organic visits a month. As of May 2026 that figure sits at an estimated 2,785 visits a month, an increase of about 68 percent.

Branded traffic, which is people searching for North Shore House by name, also grew strongly over the same period, from 1,515 to 2,379 visits a month. That matters because branded search is a sign the venue is becoming better known and more often shortlisted. All of this growth is organic, with no paid traffic behind the numbers.

Semrush at the start of the engagement (March 2024): about 1,662 organic visits per month and 756 ranking keywords.
Semrush at the start of the engagement (March 2024): about 1,662 organic visits per month and 756 ranking keywords.
Semrush now (May 2026): about 2,785 organic visits per month and 1,263 ranking keywords.

Keyword Footprint Growth

Semrush also tracks the total set of keywords the site ranks for and where each one sits. This is a good measure of how much ground the venue covers in search overall. The footprint has grown from 756 keywords to 1,263 since the campaign began, and the gains are spread across every ranking band.

Metric Mar 2024 May 2026 Change
Total ranking keywords 756 1,263 +67%
Keywords in Top 3 18 28 +10
Keywords in positions 4 to 10 22 54 +32
Keywords in positions 11 to 20 35 94 +59
Estimated organic traffic 1,662 2,785 +68%

The strong growth in the positions 4 to 10 and 11 to 20 bands matters, because those are the keywords closest to breaking into the top results next. It points to continued momentum rather than a one time spike.

Website Leads and Tour Conversions

Rankings only matter if they turn into real inquiries. Looking at the venue's own lead records, the website has produced more than 5,170 leads since the engagement began in spring 2024, a steady flow of roughly 190 new inquiries every month with no sign of slowing.

Where the real improvement shows is what happens to those leads. The share that go on to book a venue tour has grown, and tours are the step that leads most directly to booked weddings.

The clearest sign of progress is the tour booking rate. In the first year of work, about 8.3 percent of website leads went on to book a tour. In the most recent year that figure rose to 12.1 percent, an increase of about 46 percent in how efficiently the site turns interest into a scheduled visit. The number of tours that actually took place rose alongside it, from 158 to 217.

This is the part of the funnel that drives bookings. More couples are not just landing on the site, they are taking the next step and coming to see the venue in person.

Headline Keyword Gains

These rankings come from our rank tracking platform and include the monthly search volume for each term, so you can see not just where the venue ranks but how much demand sits behind each keyword. Position is measured for the local New Jersey and Newton market.

The biggest win of the campaign is the Sussex County wedding venue cluster. These are some of the most valuable searches in the region, since they capture couples looking across the whole county rather than one town. At the end of last year the venue was sitting on page two for all of them. It now holds the number one spot for every variation.

The Sussex County Breakthrough

Five closely related searches, each worth around 260 searches a month, all moved from the bottom of page two to first place. That is the kind of cluster that compounds, because the same pages and signals that lift one term lift the rest.

The venue has also climbed for the larger head terms in the area, including the restaurant searches tied to the Blue Heron and the broader north Jersey and shore wedding terms. Several of these carry far more monthly volume than the venue specific searches.

Blue Heron Restaurant alone draws close to 10,000 searches a month, and the venue now sits in the top five for it. The north Jersey and shore wedding terms are the most competitive in the set and are still climbing, which is where the next stretch of work is focused.

AI Search Visibility

More and more couples are planning weddings by asking Google AI Mode and ChatGPT directly, instead of scrolling through a list of links. We have been optimizing the site specifically for this, and North Shore House now appears as a recommended option inside both for lakeside and exclusive wedding searches.

What We Have Done

None of the above happens on its own. Since March 2024 our team has run a steady program of content, on-page, technical, and local SEO work, with monthly reporting throughout. The main areas have been:

  • Content. Monthly blog content written and published around weddings, lakeside events, and seasonal topics, with titles researched for real search demand.
  • Service pages. New and rebuilt service and venue pages, including the Blue Heron Tavern, lakeside and Swartswood pages, and exclusive wedding venue content.
  • On-page SEO. On-page optimization across titles, meta tags, headings, internal links, and page content.
  • Technical. Technical audits and fixes, including page speed, indexing, and Search Console issue resolution.
  • Local SEO. Google Business Profile optimization, including services, photos, and the reviews section, plus local pages to strengthen relevance around Newton and Sussex County.
  • Structured data. Schema and structured data so search engines understand the venue's content better.
  • AI search. AI and ChatGPT optimization so the venue surfaces in AI generated answers, with monthly ranking, AI Mode, and ChatGPT visibility reports to track progress.

What Happens Next

The foundation is strong and the momentum is real. With the venue already holding the top spots for its core searches, the focus shifts from winning rankings to getting even more out of them:

  • Finish the climb. Push the larger, more competitive head terms still climbing, such as best wedding venues in north jersey and the nj shore wedding searches, toward the top.
  • Grow tour conversions. Keep lifting the share of website leads that book and attend a tour, since that step matters most for bookings.
  • Reviews. Keep growing reviews on the Business Profile, since reviews are one of the strongest factors in the Map pack and in AI recommendations.
  • AI search. Widen the AI search footprint by covering more of the lakeside and wedding questions couples are asking.
  • Upkeep. Continue the monthly content and technical upkeep that has driven the results so far.

The venue is now winning the searches that matter in its market, and the next stretch is about turning that visibility into even more booked weddings.
