NJ weddings averaged $57,000 in 2025, the most of any state. What NJ couples search for, and what is working at the 44 New Jersey venues we work with.

Map of New Jersey with a gold pin for each of the 44 venues Del Priore Hospitality works with there

The short version

  • New Jersey weddings averaged $57,000 in 2025, the highest of any state and $22,800 above the US average of $34,200.
  • The biggest New Jersey searches are broad ones: “wedding venues nj”, “wedding halls in nj” and “wedding venues north jersey” each get 10,000 to 100,000 searches a month.
  • Price words run all through NJ searches. “Inexpensive” and “reasonable” wedding venues in New Jersey each get 1,000 to 10,000 searches a month.
  • At The Gramercy in Hazlet, clicks from Google rose 74% (three months to late August 2026, against the same months of 2025). North Shore House went from page 8 to first for “wedding venue in Newton” and is still first as of October 2026.

We are a wedding venue marketing agency based in New Jersey, and New Jersey is where we work with the most venues: 44 of them, from catering halls in Bergen County to farms in Hunterdon and Gloucester and inns in Cape May. This guide sets what we see across them next to what NJ couples spend on a wedding and what they type into Google when they start looking for a place to hold it. Our team was founded by two brothers, Luke and Dario Del Priore.

New Jersey is the most expensive state to get married in

Couples who married in New Jersey in 2025 spent $57,000 on average on the ceremony and reception, according to The Knot’s 2026 Real Weddings Study. Rhode Island is second at $51,000 and New York third at $49,000, and the US average is $34,200.

Each wedding is worth more here than almost anywhere else in the country. National figures show how a couple gets to a booking: in WeddingPro’s study of 781 couples, the venue was the first vendor booked, usually 11 to 14 months ahead, and couples contacted five venues and toured four once they had a shortlist.

What New Jersey couples type into Google

Google’s Keyword Planner shows how often a phrase is searched each month. For accounts that are not running ads it gives a range rather than an exact count. These are the biggest New Jersey venue searches for October 2025 to September 2026:

  • Couples search by place. By region (north jersey, central jersey, south jersey, the Jersey Shore), by county (Bergen, Monmouth) and by town (Hoboken, Morristown, Princeton, Asbury Park, Lambertville, Atlantic City, Montclair). Each is a separate search, and Google answers each with the venues that have a page about that place.
  • “Hall” is searched as much as “venue”. “Wedding halls in nj” gets about as many searches as “wedding venues nj”. If your venue is a banquet or catering hall, your pages should say so in those words.
  • Price is part of the search. “Inexpensive”, “reasonable”, “affordable” and “cheap” all appear, along with “nj wedding venues with prices”. In the state with the highest wedding costs, many couples begin with the budget.

Style words fill out the rest: rustic, barn, farm, outdoor, beach, waterfront, garden, castle, luxury, small and micro wedding venues in New Jersey each draw 100 to 1,000 searches a month.

What is working in New Jersey

Five things you can check on your own site.

1. A page for each place couples name

“Wedding venue in Newton”, “Sussex County wedding venue”, “wedding venues north jersey”: each needs a page that is about that place, with real photos taken there, the drive from the towns your couples come from, and the guest counts you hold. A single “Weddings” page cannot rank for all of them. The statewide “wedding venues nj” gets the most searches, and every venue in New Jersey can compete for it. The map results are the other half of these searches, and our Google Business Profile guide covers what moves a venue up there. This is the work our wedding venue SEO service does.

2. The words your couples use

Call yourself what couples call you. If you are a hall, use “wedding hall” and “banquet hall” on the page as well as “venue”. If you are on a farm, at the shore or on the water, say so in the headings and the photo descriptions, because “farm”, “beach” and “waterfront” are all searched in New Jersey every month.

3. A price couples can see

Price was the most important factor in choosing a venue for 76% of couples in The Knot’s study, and New Jersey couples put it straight into the search box. A starting price, a per-guest range or a pricing guide on the site lets the right couples find you and lets the rest filter themselves out before they take up a tour slot. Our wedding venue marketing guide covers what else the site needs before a couple asks for a tour, and our venue websites and ads are built around it.

4. A reply at 9 pm

Almost half of The Shore Club’s inquiries came in outside office hours. Couples write to several venues at once (five on average in WeddingPro’s study), so the venue that answers first gets the first chance at a tour. Our CRM and follow-up automation sends an automatic reply with a link to book a visit, then a personal follow-up.

5. Tours, counted every month

We count tours and bookings every month, not only clicks and rankings. At North Shore House, the share of website leads booking a tour went from 8.3% to 12.1% in a year. To see what a few more tours a month would be worth at your venue, try our wedding venue ROI calculator.
